Fears & Phobias

If we are truly honest with ourselves we are all a little scared of something and our brains are wonderful things that do their best to protect us from dangerous, scary situations.

Unfortunately, our brains can learn to overreact. Our brains make a link between specific situations or events and a negative emotion is tagged to it. Each time we think about that situation or event it is reinforced the negative emotion and can grow. A fear becomes a phobia when it starts to effect how you live your life.

Our fears and phobias can often be kept in check when we are coping with day to day life, but they do have a nasty habit of become more intense when things are not going so well.

At Stronger-Mind Hypnotherapy we run a special 4 week block to deal with specific fears and phobias. An initial consultation + 3 sessions.

Please Note: If the fear or phobia is complex then we do ‘standard’ sessions until we feel that you are in a place where the fears and phobias protocol will benefit you the most.

For example = spiders
A specific phobia would be if you see one you panic, scream and run out the room.
A complex phobia would be if you do the above but also think about them all the time, you check under every pillow before bed, you will not go to certain places in case they are there and so on.

I have to admit that this may be my favourite thing to help clients with as their life can literally be changed in 4 weeks. I have worked with people scared of flying who can now go on a 10 hour flight. Terrified of police sirens and now have no reaction. Fearful of the passing of time and now look forward to all the exciting things ahead of them. As well as many other things including spiders, exams and presentations.
