Spiritual Trauma

Spiritual trauma can occur when someone’s core spiritual values and goals are threatened or damaged. Spiritual trauma can have a profound and long-lasting impact on a person’s life. This can happen through a variety of experiences, including:

  • Religious abuse – a religious leader/member using scripture or beliefs to coerce or control the behaviour of others
  • Moral injury – violations of a person’s moral or ethical code
  • Toxic/controlling religious upbringing

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH) focuses on the present and future and not the past, to minimise the risk of re-traumatisation. SFH can help overcome a range of issues including anxiety, anger, stress, low mood, as well as minimising painful memories and traumatic experiences.
